During the month of Ramadan Pakistanis wash courtyard of the Badshahi Mosque in Lahore. With fasting from dawn to dusk, charity, daily prayer are performed during the entire month of Ramadan. Occurrence of Ramadan month can be declared on different days may be day or two in different countries as it usually declared by following moon-sighting methodology and lunar calendar.
In the month of Ramadan, Muslims spend their time in mosques reading Quran, listening to religious lectures and evening prayers which is known as “taraweeh”.
At every sunset during Ramadan month Muslims break their fast with sip of water and few dates followed by prayers as Prophet Muhammad did around 1,400 years ago. The main purpose of fast is to bring the religious close to god and make experience of the suffering or people who are less fortunate.
With the end of the Ramadan Muslims celebrate Eid al-Fitr with three days holiday.
